So finally after over 1 year of hard work and dealing with different work shops and factories all over England, a lovely little place in north London is now making some Wallets, Make Up Bags and Credit Card Holders so I can sell them online.
Lots of people told me I should go abroad as it’s cheaper and easier but I was adament I wanted to support British Manufacturing and it’s Flora McKillop London not Flora McKillop New Delhi!
Each product has a signature lilac suede or lilac striped linen for the lining as a fun twist. I have gone for 3 colours, a smart navy, pretty beige and fun plum, all in embossed ostrich leather.
This is such a big exciting step as it really means I can sell more to my clients and attract some interest from new shoppers.
I can’t thank my friends and family enough for all their supportive and endless advice. These things take time and really hope the new designs are much loved.
The items should be online at the end of the week but have a sneaky peek of the wallets below!
I really enjoy making a personalised one-off ‘Nappy Bag’ for a new mummy. This is because it basically holds her entire world for her little one and has to be practical but still stylish. Most of the orders have included the requirement for lots of pockets and a long detachable strap that can go across her shoulders or over the pram’s handles.
One Mummy asked for her twin’s initials on the zip pulls which looked great and made the bag even more special for her.
All the bags come with a waterproof coating and waterproof lining for those annoying leaking bottles.
The leather corners and base prevent any wear and tear and front zipped pocket is useful for phones and keys.
For dog lovers, Emily Bond’s great fabrics are ideal. As I own a chocolate labrador, this is definitely what I will be making for myself one day!
The bags have recently featured on the Princess and The Pram blog:
To order a bespoke Nappy Bag, please purchase a ‘Tote Bag’ voucher online of £180 and then email me with your requirements or to set up a consultation in my studio.
One wonderful client asked me to embroider the name of her dachshund, Otto, on the lining of her bag. I love taking commissions like this as it ensures the bag is truly unique and makes the client feel extra special.
She also asked for Cally with a special pocket on the inside.
After 2 weeks in India being inspired by all the fantastic colours, all the new Spring / Summer bags will have bright linings like this amazing turquoise suede.
Another commission was from a bride to be who asked for three Makeup bags with the name of each of her bridesmaids embroidered on the linings inside which was a lovely present to give to each.
After waiting many months for this, my embossed logo stamp has finally been made. This will be stamped on a piece of leather matching the bag / accessory and sewn on the inside of the lining. Might look smart in gold lettering too……….
